Ranking Bond Revisited

First off, I would like to make the comment that I think it's pretty cool that if you type "Ranking Bond Movies" into Google, my previous page pops up at number 2. The negative byproduct of said placement is that I get comments like the newest one on that page that simply reads "bad taste." Thanks for taking the time.

That said...that person has a point. The rankings are a bit dated (especially now that a new movie is on the scene.) I made my way through most of the movies (if not parts of them) again before "Quantum of Solace" and found myself liking others more than I remembered ("From Russia With Love") and not liking others as much ("Live and Let Die.") So, for the sake of posterity and a incredibly short blog, here's the new list:

22. Diamonds Are Forever
21. License to Kill
20. View to a Kill
19. The Man With the Golden Gun
18. Tomorrow Never Dies
17. Live and Let Die
16. You Only Live Twice
15. Thunderball
14. Die Another Day
13. Moonraker
12. Dr. No
11. Octopussy
10. The World is Not Enough
9. The Living Daylights
8. Quantum of Solace
7. For Your Eyes Only
6. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
5. The Spy Who Loved Me
4. GoldenEye
3. Casino Royale
2. From Russia With Love
1. Goldfinger

Now that's taken care of. More substantial posts to come soon.

For my part, Live and Let Die, Octopussy, and OHMS are the worst three Bond movies.

Moonraker, GoldenEye, and Goldfinger rate the best three in my book.

Have you read any of the original books? I've got a great paperback collection going back to the fifties - Fleming's Bond is entirely different from what's played on the screen. Daniel Craig is about as close as the original gets.

I actually read the books this summer...and completely agree. While Fleming does tip the race/sexism scale a bit too much for my taste at times (see: "Live and Let Die"), I really liked the books. I especially liked "Moonraker"...nothing at all like the movie, and very good.

I also liked the "new" Bond book written by Sebastian Faulks ("Devil May Care") as well. I'm with you on Craig...although I think the first Dalton movie fits it pretty well, too.
